From 6 to 17 July 2026, researchers, academic staff and doctoral students participated in Summer School 1, entitled “Research Tools and Techniques for High-Quality Sustainability Information.”

The Summer School combined academic learning, project-based activities, interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, and field research. The agenda of SS1 are uploaded here.

Lecture Sessions

The lecture sessions addressed key topics related to sustainability research and ESG reporting, including sustainability reporting standards, qualitative case-study methods, virtual focus groups, and Scope 1–3 indicators. Participants also discussed ESG implementation and reporting, as well as sociological and regulatory perspectives on sustainability information. Team-based activities encouraged participants to exchange experiences, discuss research ideas, and reflect on how reliable sustainability information can support better research and decision-making.

Field Work Research and On-the-Spot Visits

The field visits offered practical insights into sustainability and innovation across biotechnology, manufacturing, agri-food, packaging, mobility, textiles, energy, and rural development. Participants visited the Molecular Biotechnology Center, ROTAIR S.p.A., SANIFRUTTA Cooperativa, MAS PACK S.p.A., KIVI Mobility Freedom, Maglificio Po–Oscalito, IREN S.p.A., and several organisations in Ostana and the Monviso area. These visits helped connect academic discussions with real organisational practices and supported further cooperation between researchers and non-academic partners.
